    day in the life photos

It’s another day. You get up, wake the kids and eagerly start the coffee. You look for something to wear and land on some yoga pants and sweatshirt… oh wait, that’s not clean. A blouse and cardigan will do. Heck, you’re feeling fancy. You skim the news and check your calendar. What’s on the agenda today? Hmmm… school drop off, play date at the park, lunch, school pick up and then swim practice. It seems like just another ordinary day in your life.

For instance, the sweet embrace forming around the bottom of your legs from your toddler’s tiny arms, the elaborate and oh-so-layered outfit your 5-year-old insists on wearing to school today, and the welcome-home hug at the end of the day from your spouse or partner. You may not think to photograph these things, yet they are the intimate and joyful moments you cherish – these moments depict how your relationships feel, and provide your family with a small peek into the phase of life you’re in right now. It’s fleeting – says every grandma we’ve ever encountered in line at the grocery store, amiright?

A Day in Your Life is Extraordinary

Are you glossing over the most significant moments in your day? Do you feel like it’s all going too fast? Do you wish you could slow down and enjoy the ride? You aren’t alone. We tend to fill our days with so many tasks that we often forget what it’s all for and why it matters. That’s why it’s so important to find a way to slow it down and show some gratitude.

Day-in-the-life sessions give you the opportunity to indulge in the small things, find joy in the mundane, and appreciate what is. You get to see how you parent from the outside looking in. Oftentimes, these photos are humorous and heartwarming – you’ll laugh, and then you’ll cry.

Eight hours may seem like an eternity and you can’t imagine hosting a photographer for that long. What on Earth will I do for eight hours? Well, you’ll do exactly what you’d do if I wasn’t there. It’s so easy!

You may also be wondering what there will be to photograph after an hour or two, but I can assure you the best moments are when you’re least expecting them and the longer I stay with your family, the more it becomes normal to be photographed in this way. This is a huge advantage to you – there’s absolutely no pressure on your end to “get the photo.” Without these short, and oftentimes unrealistic timelines, we’ll get really comfortable with one another and build a trusting relationship which results in authentic and powerful images. Children stop performing and get on with their day and I’m there to document it all.

    Your Very Own Photojournalist

Day-in-the-life sessions are like having your very own journalist covering your life. Photojournalism is unique in that it offers the viewer a feel of what it’s like to be in your shoes. Your family is the subject and your life is the story – what a rare opportunity!

The best thing about day-in-the-life sessions is that it leaves behind a legacy of your family’s relationships, home, and personalities that just can’t be replicated in a portrait. Your grandkids and their grandkids will have a tangible way to remember it forever.
